Job Description

Lumino Knox Dental is seeking a friendly and detail-oriented Dental Assistant to join our team in Dunedin, New Zealand on a full-time basis. In this role, you will provide essential support to our dental professionals while delivering exceptional patient care in a fast-paced clinical environment. The ideal candidate will be organized, professional, and committed to maintaining the highest standards of patient service and infection control.

  • Assist dentists during patient examinations and dental procedures, ensuring all instruments and materials are readily available
  • Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing and organizing dental instruments according to established protocols
  • Greet patients in a friendly and welcoming manner, manage patient check-in procedures, and maintain accurate patient records using dental software
  • Take and process dental radiographs (X-rays) following safety guidelines and regulatory requirements
  • Provide chairside support during procedures, including suctioning, retraction, and instrument passing
  • Maintain meticulous attention to detail when recording patient information, treatment notes, and billing details
  • Ensure the treatment area remains clean, organized, and compliant with infection control standards
  • Manage appointment scheduling and patient communication to optimize clinic workflow
  • Support the dental team in maintaining a professional and supportive work environment

Hours for this role :

  • Monday 6.30am - 1.30pm
  • Tuesday 7.45am-1.30pm
  • Wednesday 7.45am-1.30pm
  • Thursday 7.45am - 4.30pm
  • Friday 7.45am - 4.30pm

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with patients and team members
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities
  • Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in clinical and administrative tasks
  • Basic computer literacy and proficiency with patient management systems
  • Understanding of patient confidentiality and commitment to maintaining professional standards

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as a dental assistant or in a healthcare setting
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification
  • Knowledge of dental terminology, procedures, and radiography techniques
  • Experience with dental practice management software
  • Familiarity with infection control protocols and sterilization procedures
  • Experience in a customer service or patient-facing role
