Looking for a flexible casual opportunity with a supportive and professional dental team?
1300SMILES Smithfield is currently recruiting for either a Casual Dental Assistant, a Casual Dental Receptionist, or a dual-skilled Dental Assistant/Receptionist who can confidently work across both clinical and reception duties.
We are open to hiring two separate team members (one Dental Assistant and one Receptionist) or one versatile candidate experienced in both areas. For candidates with skills across both functions, shifts may be rostered as either a Dental Assistant or Receptionist depending on practice needs.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced dental environment, delivering exceptional patient care, and creating positive experiences for every patient who walks through our doors.
Job Description
Your responsibilities will include:
Dental Assistant Duties
- Chairside assistance during a variety of dental procedures
- Prepare and sterilise instruments in accordance with infection control protocols
- Set up and maintain treatment rooms
- Provide exceptional patient care before, during, and after treatment
- Maintain accurate clinical records
- Manage stock and clinical supplies
- Ensure high standards of cleanliness and organisation
Dental Receptionist Duties
- Welcome patients and create a warm, professional first impression
- Manage appointments, phone calls, emails, and patient enquiries
- Process payments and maintain accurate patient records
- Support the clinical team to ensure a seamless patient journey
- Assist with general administrative and reception duties
Qualifications
We'd love to hear from candidates with experience in one or both areas:
- Previous experience as a Dental Assistant and/or Dental Receptionist
- Experience using dental practice software such as Dental4Windows, Exact, or similar is highly regarded
- Strong understanding of infection control and sterilisation procedures (for DA applicants)
- Exceptional customer service and communication skills
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a busy practice
- Professional, reliable, and well-presented manner
- Positive, caring, and patient-focused approach
Hours & Availability - Casual Position
To be considered, applicants must be available to work weekday shifts between 8:00am and 5:30pm (or part thereof).
Please note: Our primary requirement is availability to work full weekday shifts when required. This role is not suited to candidates who are only available during school hours.
Highly regarded:
- Availability for occasional Saturdays as part of a rotating roster
- Availability for Thursday late shifts
- Experience and willingness to work across both Dental Assistant and Reception duties
