We are currently seeking a friendly, reliable, and enthusiastic Dental Assistant/Receptionist to join our team in Palmerston North. For the first six months, the successful candidate will support our Feilding practice one day per week before transitioning to a permanent Palmerston North-based role.
Job Description
As a Dental Assistant/Receptionist, you'll play an important role in ensuring the practice runs smoothly and efficiently. This varied role combines clinical assistance, patient care, and front-desk administration, making it ideal for someone who enjoys both patient interaction and hands-on clinical support.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting clinicians chairside during a range of dental procedures
- Preparing treatment rooms and maintaining high sterilisation and infection control standards
- Welcoming patients and creating a positive and professional experience from arrival to departure
- Managing appointments, answering phone enquiries, and responding to patient queries
- Processing payments and completing administrative tasks
- Supporting the team to ensure seamless daily operations
- Contributing to a friendly, positive, and collaborative workplace culture
Working Hours:
- Tuesday: 8:15am to 5:15pm (Feilding for the first 6 months)
- Wednesday: 8:15am to 5:15pm (Palmerston North)
- Thursday: 8:15am to 5:15pm (Palmerston North)
- Friday: 8:15am to 5:15pm (Palmerston North)
Following the initial six-month period, the role will be based entirely in Palmerston North.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will:
- Have previous experience as a Dental Assistant, Receptionist, or in a customer-facing role (preferred but not essential)
- Be passionate about delivering outstanding customer service and patient care
- Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Be well organised with strong attention to detail
- Be confident multitasking and working in a busy environment
- Have a positive, flexible, and proactive attitude
- Hold valid New Zealand work rights
- Live locally in Palmerston North, Feilding, or a nearby area that allows for a reliable daily commute
- Be able to travel to Feilding one day per week during the initial six-month period
