Lumino Mt Eden is one of New Zealand’s busiest and most established dental practices, located in the heart of Auckland. As part of the country’s largest dental network, we combine the support of a national organisation with the warm, collaborative feel of a close-knit team.
We are currently seeking a Sterilisation Assistant to join our fast-paced clinic — someone who thrives in a high-energy environment and brings strong organisational and communication skills to the role.
Why You’ll Love Working With Us
- Fast-paced, high-performing team: On average, we see 45–50 patients a day, with six clinicians working simultaneously. It’s a busy clinic — but also a vibrant, supportive one where no two days are the same.
- Strong team culture: Many of our team members have been with us for over a decade. We value collaboration, support, and a sense of humour!
- Opportunities to grow: As part of the Lumino network, you’ll have access to ongoing training and development opportunities across the wider organisation.
- Central location: Mt Eden is a lively, well-connected suburb with a strong sense of community.
As our Sterilisation Assistant, you’ll be a critical part of our team! You'll support our experienced clinicians with various dental procedures during patient appointments, and take ownership of instrument sterilisation, infection control, and stock management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cleaning, sterilising, and maintaining dental instruments and equipment
- Accurately monitoring and recording sterilisation processes
- Assisting with infection control procedures across the clinic
- Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations
- Assisting with stock management
- Supporting clinical staff with room setups and patient turnaround
- Assisting chairside with procedures (training provided)
- Providing occasional support at reception (training provided)
These are not entry-level roles. We're looking for candidates who can hit the ground running and have prior experience in a dental or medical setting. You'll need to be calm under pressure, quick to adapt, and confident communicating with a wide range of people.
To be successful, you will have:
- You must currently reside in New Zealand and have work rights
- At least 1 year of experience in a dental assistant role (essential)
- Strong English communication skills – both spoken and written
- Proficiency with dental/medical software (EXACT experience is a plus)
- Excellent multitasking and time management skills
- A positive, proactive attitude and a strong commitment to patient care
- The ability to stay composed and organised in a fast-moving environment
- Comfort handling used medical equipment — not for the faint of heart!
